The 10th Enofusion wanted to emphasize the efforts of two prominent players from the wine community: Bodegas Ramon Bilbao and Pablo Alvarez, managing director of Vega Sicilia.
Bodegas Ramon Bilbao will inaugurate the programme of the Tasting Room while they receive the Prize for Innovation 2020. Enofusion was determined to value this winery from La Rioja region with this award for “the endeavour invested in modernising the wine image, conquering markets via not only the quality of their wines but also by their innovation and adaptive capacity towards new consumers, as well as their promotion campaigns in which the wine focuses on connecting to the consumer’s lifestyle”. Rodolfo Bastida, technical and managing director of Bodegas Ramon Bilbao, will accept the award and, on this occasion, he will also conduct a tasting session including the winery’s outstanding wine references: it will be held on January 13th at 10:30 am.
Furthermore, the “Don Luis Hidalgo” Award for Achievement 2020 will be given to Pablo Alvarez, managing director of Vega Sicilia. Enofusion aims to highlight this personality “for having placed Vega Sicilia as one of the most appreciated luxury brands at a global level, for his flawless economic management since 1985 at the helm of the most emblematic Spanish winery, and for having attained an accurate and controlled expansion in the wine trade through the incorporation of premium brands in Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Toro and Tokaji; and ultimately, because Vega Sicilia is the great reference of Spanish winemaking across the globe”. Pablo Alvarez will be given the Award on Wednesday 15th of January at 3pm. in the Tasting Room. Following the award ceremony, a tasting session covering diverse references from this winery will be carried out.
Every year, the Enofusion Awards point out individuals, companies and institutions that through their work and efforts help to enhance the wine sector, from different fields. The Prize for Innovation highlights the performance of prominent players from the wine community for their avant-garde vision and their encouragement for new trends. On the other hand, the “Don Luis Hidalgo” Award, thus named in the memory of the “father” of modern Spanish winemaking, was conceived by Enofusion with the purpose of recognizing the greatest actors who have enhanced wine culture in Spain.
