Jordi Vilà
Chef at Alkimia* (Barcelona)

Jordi Vilà was born into a family where culinary culture was a central element, and at the age of 15, after expressing his interest in the world of cooking to his parents, he started working in the Baixas patisserie. His father found him this summer job, hoping that he would give it up after discovering the rigours of the sector. It had the opposite effect.
After training at the Escola de Hoteleria Joviat in Manresa, he worked in many kitchens, including those of Casa Irene, Neichel, Joan Piqué and Jean Luc Figueras. In 1998 he opened the restaurant Abrevadero on Avinguda del Paral.lel in Barcelona. In 2002 he opened the restaurant Alkimia, which was an immediate success.
In 2004 he was awarded a Michelin star, which he has kept to this day, and in 2006 the restaurant was also awarded a prize by the 'Best of Gastronomy' guide in the confectionery category.
After 13 years of continuous activity on Carrer Industria in Barcelona, the Alkimia restaurant closed its doors and reopened in June 2016 on the main floor of the Moritz factory building, the brewery where Vilà has been working as the group's gastronomic director since 2011.
