Henrietta Lovell

Founder and CEO of The Rare Tea Company and Rare Charity (London, UK)

Henrietta Lovell left a career in finance to found the Rare Tea Company in 2004 and is now known around the world as the Rare Tea Lady.

Since then, she has been at the forefront of a tea revolution, working with chefs and sommeliers to create gastronomic harmonies. She has created bespoke blends for some of the world's finest restaurants, including Noma in Copenhagen, Momofuku in New York and Claridge's in the UK, and her teas are available from London to China.

Henrietta travels the world to select small, independent tea gardens, from the Shire Highlands of Malawi to the foothills of the Himalayas. By sourcing directly from the farms, she is able to source unique crops and ensure they are made using sustainable practices that benefit both the land and the people who live on it. In 2016, she founded Rare Charity, which returns a percentage of Rare Tea Co's revenue back to its partner farms to support educational scholarships.
