Jordi Butrón

Director of Espai Sucre (Barcelona, Spain)

The alma mater of Espai Sucre, Jordi Butrón opened the world's first dessert restaurant and the first school with specific training in restaurant patisserie in 2000.

His career began at the Escribà patisserie in Barcelona, but it was in France, working at Crillon in Paris, that he learnt discipline, order, cleanliness and technique. Gagnaire motivated him to research and Jean Luc Figueras gave him the confidence to go his own way. He also worked with Michel Bras and Ferran Adrià before creating Espai Sucre.

Throughout his long career, he has received numerous awards, including the prize for the best pastry chef in Catalonia, the National Gastronomy Prize for the best pastry chef in Spain and the Prix au Chef Pâtissier International Academy of Gastronomy (AIG) 2022.
