Always curious about the world of gastronomy, Miguel Castro started baking bread as a self-taught baker in a fishing village on the Costa Dorada in 2012.
A few years later, in 2016, his curiosity and desire to learn more about the sourdough bread movement led him to move to California for three years. There he was able to turn his passion into something professional when he started selling his breads to neighbours and friends. When the demand grew and he wanted to take the step to becoming an entrepreneur, he decided to return to Spain and settle in Madrid to open the Marea Bread bakery in 2020.
Almost five years later, they have received great recognition with several awards, such as Best Bread in Madrid 2022 or being finalists in the Coppa del Mondo de Panettone in Milan, among others.
They are now working on a new project to be opened in the city of Burgos, with an R&D development space and a personalised panettone training programme.
