Mahou-San Miguel once again held the National Tapas Competition and the National Tasting & Beer Drawing Competition as part of Reale Seguros Madrid Fusión 2019. Nicolás Román (Átic, Palau Alameda) and José Antonio Vigo Gómez (La Salita, Málaga) were the winners.

The tapa is Spanish culinary and social heritage and Mahou-San Miguel holds the competition every year at Reale Seguros Madrid Fusión. On this occasion, the 16th National Tapas Competition was won by Nicolás Román (Átic, Palau Alameda). His tapa “Cangrejo real con brioche, kimchee y mantequilla tostada” (King crab with brioche, kimchee and toasted butter) won over a jury made up of renowned professionals in the catering industry, such as Philippe Regol, Enrique Bellver, Sacha Ormaeche, Nino Redruello, Jesús Trelis and Manu Balanzino.

They all particularly appreciated the originality and creativity of the offering, and the way it matched up well with beer, compared to the offerings from the other competitors: Benigno Couso Prado (Taberna Patouro, Vigo), Álex León Moreno (The Black, Madrid), Susana Aragón (Céntric Gastro, Barcelona), Rafael Sánchez Pacheco (Bocallena, Málaga) and Borja Etxebarría (The Boar, Bilbao).

Meanwhile, José Antonio Vigo Gómez (La Salita, Valencia) was the winner of the 4th Edition of the Mahou-San Miguel National Tasting & Beer Drawing Competition. In the final, which had the same jury as the National Tapas Competition, José Antonio beat his five opponents – all of them from Beer Drawing Competitions at different local Tapas Fairs sponsored by the brewery throughout the year – in the art of drawing a beer. These were David Fernández Muñoz (María Manuela, Vigo), Marcos Grande Bermejo (Tie Break, Madrid), Montse Rofes (Radikal, Barcelona), Luis Ignacio Banacloy Andani (La Bodeguita de Juan Llorens, Valencia) and Javier Zubeldia (The Boar, Bilbao).
